Treating Seasonal Chapped Hands
The cold months brings many annoyances, not least the inflammation and serious pain of chapped hands.
As soon as the leaves commence shedding from the vegetation, the bleak breezes of autumn will leave exposed skin vulnerable to dryness. Then, as Christmas nears, the icy weather of the winter season can lead to tender, chapped skin - most notably on the hands.
Thankfully, successfully healing chapped hands is more often than not simply a matter of implementing a little commonsense and loving care.
Alas, in the course of our typical, everyday modern life, we unwittingly subject our skin to a plethora of chemicals and possible allergens. These impurities can significantly affect our skin's ability to perform efficiently. For most people this is not an important concern - until the ice of winter begins to bite.
Wintry drying breezes can briskly act to further deteriorate skin that is already suffering dryness due to fluid loss. Combine the chill of the outside with the reduced humidity warmth of centrally heated offices and all of a sudden the forecast for skin can be rather downcast.
At this time the skin can end up sore and chapped.
The reverse of the hands, across the knuckles, is the vicinity generally susceptible to chapped skin. The reason for this is that the hands are more often bared to the extreme external environment. The hands are also subjected to frequent abrasion as you go about your normal tasks. Recurring contact with cleaning agents can also play a function in skin damage.
The front of the hand has a relatively thick epidermis. Here, added protection is needed. A layer of cells called the lucidum has evolved on the palms to aid them withstand the common wear and tear of everyday life. However, the skin of the hand does not have an even structure. More fragile, thinner skin covers the rear of the hand. Nevertheless, both the front and the back of a person's hands are normally subjected to identical rigours and this is when problems can develop.
As the hues of autumn fade into winter, chapped hands may make their presence felt just as the first frosts decorate the dawn countryside. Those who are particularly likely to endure chapped skin are people who work mostly outside. Similarly, those who follow private lives that require lengthy time out of doors are similarly at risk. Even if your only long venture out of doors is to sweep up the dropped leaves from the lawn, chapped hands can be an uncalled for inconvenience.
If you suffer from cold weather prompted chapped skin or sore hands, you will have only one main question. What is the most beneficial course of action to help help the condition?
Easing the dryness of your skin is an essential initial action. By making sure that your skin is suitably moisturised, you will help maintain its normal pliability. This will help promote a smooth, soft epidermis. This, consequently will lessen the occurrence of sore and chapped skin. Definitely, repeated moisturising underlies the foundation of any successful treatment.
Care should be applied when using cosmetic moisturisers. Any extra fragrance can provoke an undesirable response. Remember, the desired result is to have smooth, supple skin - not sore, chapped skin that smells nice.
Seemingly illogical, repeated wetting of the hands can lead to a drying of the skin. This is because the unremitting wetting, cleaning and drying of the hands may damaged the outer layer of lipids that protect and aid the correct moisture content of the skin.
Wearing latex protective gloves may be a simple solution to hinder the hands getting wet. However, wearing rubber gloves may contribute to avoidable skin friction and also hinder normal perspiration. Further, some people have an allergy to rubber. The last thing you want to do is aggravate existing sensitive chapped skin.
Employing a barrier cream is another popular method of protecting the skin from wetness. Regrettably, to be efficient, most barrier creams leave a thick, greasy and slippery deposit on your hands. This may help to make your hand feel less clean as you go about your everyday routine.
When picking a barrier cream check for one that is alcohol and fragrance free. The product you choose should also offer some protection against contact allergens.
When used in conjunction with the following tips, a superior quality barrier cream can make a beneficial difference to anyone suffering from sore, chapped hands:
Aim to wash your hands as few times as possible during the day, but always remember the need for cleanliness.
When you do wash, use a mild, scent free soap.
Cleaning in warm water places the skin under less strain than washing in very hot water. Similarly, a shower is preferable to a bath.
Use a soft cotton towel, with a dabbing action, to dry. This will lessen the amount of abrasion that your skin receives.
Lastly, make sure you do not scratch any part of your skin that is sore or chapped. Scratching may provide short-term relief for any dry itchiness, but it may also increase the sensitivity of the skin. Non-stop scratching will also possibly damage the epidermis.
Using this simple approach, and by applying just a little thoughtfulness, you will be pleasantly surprised at how quickly your chapped hands respond positively.

What does it mean if you keep getting sticky chapped flaky skin on your face?
On your eye brows and around your nose looks slightly orange
This is going to sound really weird, but try washing your face with a dandruff shampoo and then use a water based moisturizer. This should solve your problem.
It is probably just super dry skin and you may have picked up a fungus as well. This is why I suggested a dandruff shampoo. You might also try a product called, "Ting", it is for fungus infections and it will help your skin as well.
